NYFW – Diane Von Furstenberg - The Edit. Follow me @couturesoul

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than checking out the Diane Von Furstenberg Fall show at New York Fashion Week.

The showcase was held at The Theatre in The Lincoln Centre, as Manhattan donned a bed of snow.  Amongst the Frow was the radiant Vanessa Hudgens.

 

DVF is by far one of my favourite designers ever! She is glamorous, bohemian, creative and without a doubt one of the most inspirational women in fashion. Plus she has one of the chicest boltholes in Paris, looking onto the seine and the Eifel Tower – undoubtedly she is what being glamorous is all about.

Von Furstenberg etched a name for herself back in the 70’s when she unleashed the iconic wrap dress to the fashion landscape.   She ironically opened this year’s fall show with that very dress, giving it a fresh injection of print, dazzling us all with her hippie de lux creations.

Pulsating disco projected from the speakers, giving a party atmosphere to the fashion crowd as colour blocked jumpsuits, gold lame jackets and halter dresses rocked the runway.

A feature from the collection was the black and white prints; which were inspired by the graphic artist – M.C. Escher. 

The collection was themed around “Glam Rock”, which gave a nod to London’s glam rock era, with this shrunken alligator-stamped golden tuxedo jacket with an Op Art-print blouse and liquid pants.  

The fall collection was packed with signature prints, pops of candy-colours and sexy silhouettes, alongside versatile work wear pieces.

A dress made of chain mail, made an appearance along with a blazer and skinny pants in “fetish pink” followed by a turquoise floor-length halter dress.

Von Furstenberg described her woman for next fall “Wrapped in a swirl of twisted chain link, she steps into the night, with an effortless glamour, she winks to herself and smiles in her shadow……. In sky-high metallic heels, she swaggers across the cityscape”

The shows highlight has to be DVF herself, strutting down her own runway, singing and dancing along to “I’m every woman”.  This sent a message out to reflect what the brand is all about.

I think this is one of the most chicest collections to-date, it provides inspiration for everyone - enjoy!
