The Leaf Invite

We all know Paris Fashion week is well and truly under way but the show we have all been waiting for has finally happened – the crème de la crème of Couture has graced our presence– Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Sumer 2013.

Inside the enchanted forest

The Grand Palais was transformed into an avant garde enchanted forest – giving Raf Simons’ “garden” efforts a kick to the kerb, as Lagerfeld installed an entire botanical garden into the Palais – genius!

 

Inside the epic amphitheatre

The chilly forest and eerie scenery set the scene as guests hurried into the amphitheatre for warmth, equipped with their leaf invite, a sign of what was to come. 

The guests marvelled at Lagerfeld’s creation of the outdoor forest brought to life indoors.  Bird sounds and frosty air, created a perfect illusion of enchantedness.

A bed of snow was freshly laid in the forest giving the runway that Chanel ooze we all desire. To launch the delights was Stella Tennant, sporting gothic inspired make-up.

As always the Chanel runway stages some of the most theatrical make-up we have ever seen – hurling two major trends onto our “must try” list – the new Smokey eye and the messy-up style, think gothic with a twist.

Cara Delavigne dazzled us with her radiance in an Empress Josephine empire line gown, capturing our hearts as we lusted for the sheer elegance Chanel had delivered.
One of the runways’ features was the “framed shoulder” look along with the haute boots in half tweed, half ivory lacy – staple Chanel looks we all adore.

The colour palette of the collection was dominated by red, black and white, with 60’s inspired tube dresses, C16th doublet-style sleeves. 

Think Delicate black Chantilly lace layered over a cream boucle suites worn with thigh high skinny leather boots.

A contemporary floral spin

A guest appearance from Lagerfeld’s 4 year old Godson – Hudson stole the show, along with two models who donned Couture Bridal gowns which had such intricate detailing on them.

How cute is lil Hudson?

 

Was the Wedding Finale a sign to the recent same sex marriage protest in Paris last week, this we will never know – what we do know is the delicate structure and heavenly layers of those gowns are to die for!

Again Lagerfeld delivered on queue with the season haute pieces, and left us all inspired and lusting for more.

Nice to see Rita Ora amongst the French Frow.
